California Proposition 65 Warning

WARNING

Cutting, grinding, drilling, polishing, or otherwise fabricating natural stone (such as granite, marble, and quartzite) or engineered stone (such as quartz) can expose you to respirable crystalline silica. Respirable crystalline silica is known to the State of California to cause cancer.

Finished, sealed stone surfaces are not expected to expose you to respirable crystalline silica during normal use — this warning applies to the dust generated during cutting, grinding, and fabrication, not to a finished countertop or surface sitting in a home or business.

Why You're Seeing This

California's Proposition 65 requires businesses to provide a warning before knowingly and intentionally exposing anyone to a listed chemical, including respirable crystalline silica. We show this warning to every visitor, not only those in California, to be consistent and to make sure the information reaches anyone purchasing material for a project there.

Reducing Exposure

If you or your fabricator are cutting, grinding, drilling, or polishing stone, follow OSHA's guidance on respirable crystalline silica: use wet cutting methods, dust collection systems (such as HEPA-filtered vacuums), and appropriate respiratory protection.
